Parcel firm Parcelyaan switches 3,000 delivery bikes to electric in six cities

The company leases batteries through swap stations, so riders do not wait for a charge. It says the switch has cut running costs per delivery by about 30 per cent.

Parcelyaan, a parcel delivery company serving online sellers, has switched 3,000 of its delivery two-wheelers to electric in six cities and plans to convert its entire city fleet by the end of next year.

Instead of charging bikes at depots, riders swap empty batteries for full ones at 140 swap stations run by a partner company. A swap takes under two minutes, so riders do not lose working time waiting for a charge.
